THE PRIMROSE FRIENDS-CHARACTER SHEETS
The Primrose Friends are 12 lovable animal characters that support learning in Primrose classrooms. Each Friend teaches children about a different value, such as friendship, generosity, honesty, and conservation. In my time at Primrose, I had the opportunity to refresh each character design and establish visual trademarks for each of them.
BEFORE AND AFTER
The Primrose Friends were introduced in 1993, and while the values they teach are timeless, it was time for a refresh.
We updated their designs to reflect a simpler, brighter, and more streamlined style of illustration.

EARLY CONCEPT ART & SKETCHES
In redesigning the Friends, we tried out different illustration styles and ways of rendering the characters, as well as
their environments. Below is some of my exploratory concept art that helped us arrive at the final character and
environment designs.
